Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “I recently purchased the KENWOOD KFC-1666S 6-1/2″ 2-Way Car Stereo Speakers, and I have to say, they have far exceeded my expectations. The sound quality these speakers provide is nothing short of impressive. They deliver crisp highs and clear mid-range tones, making my daily drives much more enjoyable. The bass, while not as deep as you might get with a dedicated subwoofer, is still solid for a 2-way speaker and adds a nice depth to the music. If you’re looking for a well-rounded audio upgrade that really enhances your in-car listening experience, these speakers are an excellent choice. One of the best aspects of these speakers is how easy they are to install. I was able to get them set up in my car without any hassle, and they fit perfectly in the existing speaker mounts. Even if you’re not particularly experienced with installing car audio equipment, you shouldn’t have any trouble getting these up and running. What really stands out, though, is the incredible value for the price. These speakers are very affordable, but the sound quality they deliver is far better than you would expect for something in this price range. It’s rare to find such an inexpensive option that still offers such high-quality performance. If you’re on a budget but don’t want to compromise on sound, these speakers are a fantastic deal.Overall, I’m really pleased with this purchase and would highly recommend these KENWOOD speakers to anyone looking for a quick and easy way to elevate their car’s audio system without breaking the bank!”

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “When I decided to upgrade the factory speakers in my car, I knew I wanted something that struck a good balance between clear sound quality, solid build, and great value. After installing the PIONEER F-Series TS-F1634R 6.5″ 2-Way Speakers, I can say they’ve exceeded what I expected for the price point.Right out of the box, these speakers feel well built — not flimsy like some budget replacements I’ve owned in the past. Installation was straightforward with factory speaker mounts in my vehicle, and they fit perfectly without any modification. The mounting hardware included gets the job done and the spring-clip terminals made connecting them to the existing wiring easy.Once I hit play, I was genuinely impressed. These aren’t ‘audiophile’ speakers, but for everyday listening they’re crisp, balanced, and punchy. The tweeters add a nice touch of clarity to vocals and higher frequencies, while the 6.5″ woofer handles midrange and bass with more authority than I expected. They definitely perform better than standard OEM speakers — vocals sound less muffled, instruments are better separated, and overall music feels more alive. If you enjoy a broad mix of genres like rock, hip-hop, pop, and podcasts, these speakers handle them well.Even with the volume turned up on highway drives, the Pioneer F-Series speakers stayed clean and distortion-free. The bass isn’t booming like a subwoofer, but in a set of component car speakers this size, the low end is surprisingly respectable — especially compared to many entry-level factory replacements.Where these speakers really shine is the bang for your buck. You’re not paying premium audio prices, yet you get noticeable clarity improvements and an overall performance boost that makes everyday listening more enjoyable. For anyone wanting an upgrade without spending big on amps or door tweaks, this set is a solid pick. The PIONEER F-Series TS-F1634R 6.5″ 2-Way Speakers are exactly what I hoped for: easy to install, reliable, and a real improvement over stock audio. They bring fresh life to my car’s sound system — louder, clearer, better defined — without making me feel like I need a full overhaul. If you’re after a budget-friendly speaker upgrade with solid performance, these deserve a serious look!”

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “2013 Smart ForTwo Speaker Upgrade – Best $30 spent. You can pay for more, but this was perfect for a DIY project in the morning. Sound is a clear upgrade over OEM, anything more would have been overkill for my car.Arrived overnight, installed within an hour later off YouTube videos (and this was my first speaker install.)”
Customer Review: “I installed these CH6530’s in my 2004 Scion XB. It did not have the original factory speakers or audio system. These were purchased to replace a defective ‘Planet Audio’ speaker which was failing due to deterioration of the rubber around the cone and general aging of the speaker. These were installed in the front doors. I also purchased a set of Boss CH4220 for the dashboard speakers as a replacement for some unusual Planet Audio tweeters which seemed to add nothing to the sound quality of the system. The sound is much ‘cleaner’ now and I like the performance more than the previous setup. The speakers are powered by a Boss 250W per channel amp. I play it loud but not ‘blasting’. There is a Planet Audio head unit. All items mentioned (except previous sprakers) have been purchased on Amazon. The door speakers installed well as they were the same size as the existing speakers. An aftermarket ‘adapter ring’ has been installed in the car to replace the OEM mount so instalation went very well. It is unclear as to whether or not these would have installed in the OEM mount which uses 3 mounting screws, but the size is the same as OEM speakers and the Boss speakers have several different possible mounting hole configurations. The output volume was a bit lower in the Boss speakers but was easily compensated for by turning up the gain on the amp. The new dashboard speakers also helped a lot.The 4″ Ch4220’s were mounted in my dashboard. The factory speakers mounted by 2 tabs right and left. The New Boss speakers have mounting tabs that lined up with the existing holes. However it was necessary to bend down the tab that is closest to the windshield. It is easy to make this adjustment. I also bent the 2 side mounts slightly upward to allow the speaker to sit slightly lower in the dash. That us all that was needed.A final modification that I made was to make some changes to an Audio (midrange/treble) crossover that exists in the system. The previous door speakes were connected to midrange output and the dashboard tweeters to the treble output. Since the new dashboard speakers are ‘2 ways’ I connected them to the midrange, (previously used by the door speakers). (There was essentially no real sound when connected to the treble.) (There was very little with the original tweeters either.) Now I get a good range sound from the dashboard speakers. The door speakers are now connected directly to the amp output (crossover input) which improves the bass response in the door speakers. Again, I like the overall sound better than what I had before.Keep in mind that everyone has a somewhat different idea of what sounds ‘best’ to them, and there are many variables in equipment they will be connected to. I feel that these speakers are inexpensive, yet they produced a better overall sound system than what I had previously IMHO.They seem well made but the wiring supplied seems a bit thin. I cut and spliced to the original wiring so I would have the proper fittings to connect to the speakers. They are 2 different sizes so they cant be installed in reverse polarity. MAKE CERTAIN as to which wire is positive and negative, when you hook up (or splice) your wires. You will loose bass response if they are hooked up in reverse polarity and it could damage the speaker as well.I didnt need the supplied speaker covers as they are covered by existibng OEM covers in the car. Nevertheless the speakers ARE attractive and would look nice with the supplied covers but they lack protection from objects that might damage the speaker cone. Its not fragile however. In closing,:I hope this helps your decision. Im sure that you can get better sound and quality by spending a lot more money, but these seem very adaquate for price and on that basis I would recommend them as a low cost /decent performance option if you need speakers for your car.”

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “You wannna blow your ears out? Then get these speakers. I put them in my 03 Tahoe and let me tell you they can fill the entire truck by themselves. They fit perfectly and I didn’t use any of the provided speaker cover adapter but the screw provided hold it in nice and tight . They are extremely clear and loud but they do get a little distorted if you put them up high high my head unit goes to 40 and if you go that high except a little distorted sound on some bass but it shouldn’t be that loud anyway I run them at 35 and they are loud and clear. Were they worth the 160 bucks or however much they were? Yes absolutely. They look amazing sound amazing and are amazing.”
Customer Review: “Hope they fit!!! Theses speakers are AMAZING!! I haven’t even installed them, and I’m impressed!!! This is the SAME company that makes Infinity 6.5″ Infinity speakers?? I bought both of them, and the Infinity 6.5’s are going back! These GTO’s are HEAVY speakers! Thick baffleles, the surrounds that make the bass. The tweeters are large, rotate, fantastic! I’m SO sorry I bought the 6.5″ Infinity speakers as well. HAVE to return them ASAP, cheap Chinese junk!!! The GTO baffles are thick and rigid, the Infinity baffles feel paper thin! The magnets are really heavy! I LOVE Focal speakers as well, but their tweeters don’t pivot like these do. These are awesome speakers! Just holding them, you KNOW you bought a quality speaker! I cannot wait to have these installed!! I’m so very impressed without even installing them yet! The quality is so evident! I’m sending the Infinity Reference Chinese junk speakers back, and ordering two more of these GTO’s!! And THAT’S how impressed I am with these 6.5″ speakers!! I LOVE ALPINE, have a brand new ALPINE high-end head unit just installed but I honestly believe these speakers are better for the price than the ALPINE 6.5″ speakers I originally was going to buy. That says a lot! I LOVE that you can pivot the tweeters exactly where you want them to be. Combined with ALPINE’s speaker time alignment feature in the HU, this is going to be fantastic!! I was amazed at how heavy these speakers are! Heavier than ALPINE’s, almost TWICE as heavy as Infinity 6.5″ speakers, so upset I bought them! But you cannot tell on the internet 😔. Now I have to return them and buy two more JBL GTO 629’s. Oh well, I have 50% of my speakers. Cannot wait to hear this symphony in my Honda CRV!!! Even with the cheap stock Honda speakers, this new ALPINE HU sounds fantastic! I cannot imagine what it will sound like with all 4 JBl GTO’s!! I truly wanted the ALPINE 6.5″ speakers, but they don’t have, in my opinion, better quality than these JBL GTO 629 speakers have, and this is from someone who spent $1,500.00+ in 1987 ($3,000.00+ today’s $$!) on a total ALPINE system for my first new car I bought When I was 18 y.o., I was SO PROUD of that car! If that doesn’t tell you how big a fan of an ALPINE I am, then nothing will! I honestly believe these JBL GTO’s are a little superior to the comparable ALPINE 6.5″ speakers, and I’ve heard them both. It was so close! But the JBL’s are more sensitive per watt, and the quality of construction is a wee bit better. That’s from an ALPINE lifelong fan! I would NEVER BUY any HU (head unit), amp, or sub, but from ALPINE, PERIOD. But these speakers are AMAZING! And even though they are not ALPINE, for the money, I believe they are the best. That’s hard for me to say, but the truth. And I WANT the best for my money. ALPINE will ALWAYS be my brand of choice, but I didn’t want to buy their separate speaker package, as I will sell this car in a few years. Just put in a Wallmart radio, replace the Honda speakers, and sell it, no problem. Put in high-end ALPINE separate speakers? (Sub/mids/tweeters?) Problem I don’t want. You cannot go wrong with these JBL GTO 6.5″ speakers!!”

Customer Review: “Sadly mine was delivered (in the consumer packaging box) in a thin bag… no bubble wrap, just a plastic white bag and of course the big ding right in the center of a grill.Luckily, I’m not needing the grills, and the box itself (while pushed through) encased two styro-foam protetcants for the speakers, and the grills were over the speakers…so, the speakers themselves are fine.Everything else is fine. The box and one grill took all the abuse and they should’ve used at least bubble wrap bag (or a box, as the kenwood box is as thin cardboard as it gets). These do come with everything we need to install. These also are high enough sensitivity to be able to get good volumes from a weak head unit. Using an amp might be pushing them too much, so ensure the amp is set properly.Either way, these are loud enough to be twice as good as the factory car speakers, and for 29 dollars, is incredibly good value. They do have decent mids, and mid-lows but shine in the upper mids to highs. Mine are set to 120hz but were going great at 80hz and at lower volumes could probably handle 50-60hz but I don’t want to overheat them for too long.If you need inexpensive, clear sounding, loud replacement speakers, these will be great. The speakers are entry level and probably the best low budget there is.”

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “Okay, so I want to start off by saying I’ve never messed with audio at all in any vehicle.I bought these because my speakers were 31 years old, and I knew they needed replaced. Was it simple? No. But it was my first time, and it took me maybe over an hour to install both, not including the time taking off my door panels, speakers, re-wiring.Anyway! These sound amazing. I got them for $60, on sale. So I’d say very much worth the value right now. They fit just right, glad for the multiple holes they put.But all in all, good product. And my Jeep loves them.”
Customer Review: “I recently upgraded my car speakers, and I can honestly say it has completely transformed my driving experience. The first thing I noticed right after installation was the clarity of the sound—every instrument in a song comes through sharp and distinct. Vocals are no longer muffled; they sit right in the center, almost like the artist is performing live in the car.The bass response is tight and controlled—not overpowering, but punchy enough to feel every beat. At the same time, the midrange and highs are beautifully balanced, which means I can switch from bass-heavy hip hop to acoustic tracks without having to constantly adjust settings.Another thing I love is how loud these speakers can get without distortion. I tested them by turning the volume up higher than I’d normally listen, and the sound stayed clean and smooth. Even at highway speeds with the windows down, the music cuts through perfectly.”
Complete Buying Guide for Best 6.5 Inch Car Speakers
Essential Factors We Consider
When evaluating 6.5 inch car speakers for stock systems, we focus on several critical performance indicators. Sensitivity ratings determine how efficiently speakers convert electrical energy into sound, making them crucial for compatibility with factory amplifiers. Power handling specifications show maximum sustainable power levels, ensuring speakers won’t distort when driven hard. Frequency response charts reveal the speaker’s tonal capabilities across the audible spectrum, while cone material affects durability and sound characteristics. Mounting depth and diameter compatibility ensure proper fitment in existing speaker locations without modification.
Budget Planning
Quality 6.5 inch car speakers for stock systems typically range from $30 to $150 per pair. Budget options ($30-$60) offer solid improvements over factory speakers with basic materials and simpler designs. Mid-range selections ($60-$100) provide better components, improved materials, and enhanced features like multiple mounting configurations. Premium choices ($100+) deliver professional-grade performance with advanced materials, superior construction, and specialized technologies. Remember to factor in potential installation costs for adapters or tools, though most speakers include basic mounting hardware for straightforward replacement.
Final Thoughts
Selecting the right 6.5 inch car speakers involves balancing your specific needs, budget, and current audio setup. While all recommended options work well with stock stereos, each excels in different areas. Consider your primary listening preferences—whether you prioritize bass response, vocal clarity, or overall balanced sound—when making your selection. Most importantly, remember that any quality speaker upgrade will provide noticeable improvement over factory equipment, transforming your daily driving experience with clearer, more detailed audio reproduction.
