Customer Review: “I kinda bought this on a lark to see if it could improve — and make safer — driving our 2009 Camry, especially for my kids who are learning how to drive.I also bought a license plate mount for the backup camera, and I bought a different kind of mount for the head unit so that I could hook it into my AC vent (getting it to stick to my dashboard was not going to work longer term with a car that sits outside in the Texas summers).Long story short, it connected to my phone almost immediately, and it works very well with Android Auto. And the backup camera is also very good (my wife was impressed with the image and said it is better then the built in backup camera in her Honda CRV).So, overall, very happy to rate it 5 stars. Assuming it holds up, worth the money spent and time it took to setup and install.Here are some specific pros and cons and considerations:Pros:* It does what it says it will do and it does it at a very reasonable price.* Very bright, crisp images on the screen.Cons (these are all minor):* Touch screen seems an iota slow. Not terrible, just about 1/5th of a second slower than my phone, for comparison.* Built in speakers are OK, but not great and certainly not built for high vol.* Cord for the backup camera was about a foot short for how I wanted to route it, but it was long enough to route it under my front seat (which was my second choice).* Instruction manual gets a B-. Far better than most instructions manuals coming out of China, but could be better.Considerations:* Backup camera installation is not hard if you know what you are doing and are comfortable pulling wires through cars, etc. There are some good videos on YouTube. Watch them carefully and think through how you are going to do it before you start. If you have the correct tools and are comfortable doing this kind or work, should take you about an hour at most.* You likely will need to drill a small hole for the backup camera wire. Be thoughtful about how to do that (there may be two walls you have to punch through), and use grommets or tape to make sure the sharp edges where you drill the hole don’t eventually slice through the wire’s insulation from the vibration of driving.* Also have about 10 small ‘zip ties’ for securing the wires so they don’t get pinched some day.* As noted above, I do recommend a different way to mount the head unit than what comes with the system, and a different camera mount.* Lastly, you are going to have some cables running to the unit, so have a plan to manage them so they are not in your way while you drive and become a hazard or look unseemly.”

I have been into car audio for over 20 years and have installed countless stereo’s. I upgrade from an older Pioneer head unit that did not have Bluetooth connectivity, only aux in. This Boss stereo blows the Pioneer away in sound quality and power. Bluetooth connectivity works great and connects to my phone automatically every time with no issues. Has bass/trebble balance/fade controls, along with a couple preset eq curves. People that are complaining about screen brightness in other reviews just need to turn up the brightness in the settings menu. I have no problem seeing the screen in full sun. Stereo looks and feels of much better quality than the price suggests. I love how shallow it is as well. It makes installation a breeze. My only complaint would be the sound quality doesn’t seem quite as good when just listening to FM radio. However I only listen to talk shows in the morning on FM. All of my music I listen through Bluetooth on my phone and it works great for that. I have only used the stereo’s built in microphone a couple times to call my wife’s phone and she can hear me just fine. However she says there is a slight echoing on her side of the call like she can hear everything she is saying to me. This could be because I have had the stereo up pretty loud in the calls and is maybe getting feedback into the mic? Not really a problem for me because I didn’t buy it for hands free callling. I have it installed in a 2003 Chevy S10 on stock speakers and it sounds great. So much better than the stock stereo and the old Pioneer I replaced it with. Like most everyone else that has a smartphone, I keep my favorite music on a memory card or on the internal storage disk of my phone. The factory installed stereo on my van that I drive for work is AM/FM radio with a standard CD player only. No AUX input and of course no Bluetooth. I finally decided to search Amazon for a new car stereo with at least Bluetooth that wasn’t too pricey. I was expecting to have to spend around $100 or so, and maybe if I was lucky I could find something worth having for as little as $75.Low and behold the first item listed in my search results was this little gem: The BOSS Audio systems, 616UAB Bluetooth, MP3 compatible Digital Media, AM/FM stereo receiver. With on-board USB, AUX-in. and SD card reader all integrated with a remote control to go along. Everything I was looking for and then some. All for UNDER $40!!!!! I couldn’t believe it when I saw it. I immediately placed the order. Within a week the package arrived and I was ready to bring the work van up to date with the latest technology. Installation was super simple with the assistance of how-to videos posted on other websites. I had the unit installed and working in less than half an hour. I could not believe how loud and clear the music coming from the factory speakers was. The Bluetooth paired with my phone and the controls were as simple as could be. Now I have the capability to make and receive phone calls without having to turn the radio volume down or off completely because now the 616UAB stereo automatically pauses whatever song is playing or switches from the radio station when a phone call is comming through or if you are dialing out. Even if the unit is powered down, when a call is placed or is coming in, the Bluetooth comes to life and the conversation colmes through the stereo speakers. I LOVE THIS PRODUCT!!! I would recommend this to anyone and eveyone. Great quality for such a low price. I decided to upgrade the front door speakers as well since the cost of the head unit was so low. With the BOSS stereo unit, the wire harness purchased seperately to accomodate the after-market stereo, and the upgraded speakers in the front doors I still have less than $70 total invested in my new car audio system. It was a quick install and much easier than I expected.Most stereo touch screens force you to use tiny touch buttons for volume and mute, which are a pain to find while driving. Having a extra large physical volume knob on a screen this size is a total game-changer for safety and convenience. The knob feels solid and is much more intuitive than tapping a “+” or “-” icon along a screen bezel, and when you press it down it mutes the audio. It is worth it for that alone. The screen is bright during the day and has a touch option to dim at night and to turn off completely that I like. The software interface is fast and modern styled and the icons are an excellent size that makes setting changes quick to find. You notice it immediately when you don’t have to switch your attention to search for next track or connect to car play.Speaking of car play once you set it up it connects fast, automatically and wirelessly. Installing this will revitalize your older vehicle just a bit and bring its audio system up to date with current technology. The kissound system actually works better than many of the newer vehicles’ laggy factory installed tablet style units. It is very responsive and has a smooth transition from screen to screen. The brand is not well known but I took a chance on it vs the many other carplay head units listed here on Amazon based on the positive reviews. It works well! I mean really really well!!! It has more features than many of the much higher priced units out there.I started off with the 10.1″ model but it was slightly too large for this dash setup so I moved that over to my Titan and installed the 7 inch 2 button model paired with a Scosche ICGM8BN installation kit in my 2004 Suburban. The screen is excellent! There is a micro usb as well as a usb-A port on the front of the unit for mp3’s and thumb drives. The usb-a is also used for taking advantage of the mirror link option. I had trouble getting mirror link to work in the beginning until I realized you will need to turn off carplay on your phone and use a high grade usb cable. Speaking of carplay, it works flawlessly! It works just as well as the factory unit that came in my 2025 Toyota. The reverse camera works very well. It lowers the sound while you reverse. Note: the reverse camera video is not high quality 4k or anything of the sort but for me, that is not necessary. You can clearly see what is behind you. I really only use it to easily line up a trailer hitch. The unit has many inputs and outputs like front camera, video in, subwoofer out, etc….which I personally don’t need but they are available. Cant speak on longevity at the moment but these Kissound units are a great value for the money!!!”
